dc.descriptionUganda’s road transport sector is vital to the movement of people, goods, and services, but the growing number of vehicles has increased cases of breakdowns, accidents, and traffic congestion, especially in major urban centers. Existing towing services are largely informal, unregulated, and difficult to access during emergencies, resulting in delays, traffic disruptions, and reduced road safety. Additionally, the lack of a centralized system limits transparency, accountability, and service quality. To address these challenges, this project proposes a Web-Based Tow Service System that enables vehicle owners to request towing services in real time while allowing service providers to efficiently manage and respond to requests. The system integrates modern web technologies and GPS-based location tracking to improve accessibility, response times, and service delivery. By formalizing and digitizing towing operations, the solution aims to enhance road safety, increase operational efficiency, and support the sustainable development of Uganda’s transportation sector
dc.description.abstractThe rapid growth of vehicles in Uganda has led to increased traffic incidents, breakdowns, and parking violations, creating a need for efficient towing services. This project designed and implemented a Road Car Tow Service System to improve roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, and towing operations through technology. The system features mobile and web-based platforms for service requests and real-time tracking, GPS integration for accurate location detection and route optimization, categorized towing services, digital payment options, and a network connecting drivers with verified tow operators. It also includes data analytics tools for monitoring service demand, response times, and vehicle breakdown trends. Designed to address Uganda’s challenges such as limited infrastructure, inconsistent network connectivity, and economic constraints, the system adopts a phased deployment beginning in Kampala and expanding nationwide. The solution aims to enhance road safety, improve service efficiency, reduce response times, and create employment opportunities, contributing to a more reliable and sustainable transportation sector in Uganda.
